Lesson Objectives:
        By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
         1. read and analyze variety of poems with imagery to demonstrate comprehension.
         2. explain the different themes of the given poem and describe the impact of word choice.
         3. apply skill in using imagery in poetry writing.

-Students are given words that describe the picture that they need to guess. They try to make intelligent guess what’s the picture in the box based from the words that appeal to the senses.

-students guess this last picture as springboard for the discussion of the poem of Robert Frost.

-students express their connotation about the image by expressing their opinion.

-Lead them into understanding that imagery helps in conveying the message of a poem and revealing its underlying idea.
-activate schema.


-determine which students are ready for advance instruction.


-perceive the need for better understanding how the use of imagery helps in transference of deeper meaning of a literary piece.



-comprehend  the need to use imagery as a tool in understanding poetry.

-Students watch the video of the poem then they are asked again about their thoughts about the poem.

-Students are to discuss the following questions using Kagan Cooperative Learning.


“What are the words that deepen the understanding of the poem by appealing to the different senses: sight, touching, smelling, hearing, tasting?”

“How did the use of imagery helped in the description?”


“What is the theme as expressed in the imagery used in the poem?”
“What is the underlying message/ meaning of the poem as revealed using imagery?”





Analyse the descriptive words in imagery.



 Analyse how imagery helps in revealing the message of a poem.


Explore the theme used as indicated by the words in imagery.

Analyse the deeper meaning being conveyed of a poem.
